Wordpress Web Developer

Sock Club is seeking a Wordpress Web Developer to work with our Development and Marketing teams to build and maintain our client facing websites.

We are looking for an individual who has the following qualities and, more importantly, is excited to work for our rapidly growing company in Austin, TX. Requirements:

Ideal candidate has a BS degree in Computer Science, other technical degree or 3+ years of equivalent technology experience. Ability to work independently AND cross-functionally with marketing, development, and designers.

  • Experience developing and working with WordPress or similar CMS, 2+ years preferred
  • Strong knowledge of current web development languages (including HTML5, CSS3, PHP/MySQL)
  • Experience with JavaScript/jQuery
  • Familiarity with building applications and integrations for consumer websites
  • Eagerness to learn about new technologies and implement those ideas efficiently into a production environment
  • Good understanding of techniques/practices such as responsive web design, progressive enhancement, accessibility, web standards, MVC architectures, and modern deployment practices
  • Experience with speed/performance enhancements
  • Strong experience with on-page SEO fundamentals
  • An eye for clean and artful web design
  • Strong problem-solving skills with creative approach
  • Having built and maintained open source WordPress plugins in a plus!

Responsibilities:

  • Working alongside our marketing team to build, maintain and improve our codebase for custom.sockclub.com (on WordPress), building out new features and enhancements, resolving technical issues, and shipping code consistently to production environments
  • Working with product lead, designers, marketing, and other stakeholders to implement versatile technology solutions Integrating APIs (or in some cases building them!) and implementing core production solutions
  • Participate in all visual design stages from concept to final hand-off
  • Leading individual tech efforts such as (but not limited to) page speed enhancements, server load reductions, technical SEO improvements, and building tools for content distribution on other platforms
  • Conduct quality assurance and testing on project deliverables
  • Sharing what you've accomplished or discovered to the benefit of the team
